Description

The latest raspberryPI mender-convert’ed images do not boot, they hang:

Check what is happening and fix the mender-convert tool to produce images that work.

cunning!

: My next “tool in the toolbox” would likely be to modify the boot environment prior to boot, to have lots of print statements everywhere, so you can see where it’s going wrong. This will most likely require recompiling the U-Boot binary which mender-convert uses though, so it’s already elevating the difficulty a bit. 🙁

do you think you could lead a small master class on debugging such issues? (note that I lost my serial console wire, so be creative :> )

I’m optimistically setting this to 5SP. Based on the screenshot, I think (hope) that this a simple replacement issue (note the unexpanded ${mender_kernel_root} variable). However be aware that we may need to reestimate if I turn out to be wrong and this is an issue with the bootloader integration, which is cumbersome to deal with on RPi.
